Does the HSE First Aid at Work course have to be run over 3 consecutive days or can it be spread over a longer period?
We are able to arrange for courses to be split into three separate days over 3 weeks or more if required. Facts Training offers a flexible service and will always try to arrange training around your particular needs.
Can we have our course in the evening or at a weekend?
Yes, we can run your course at these times, there is a surcharge for Sundays and for courses run over more sessions than standard, e.g. a one day course run over 2 evenings. The additional charge is usually £50 + vat per session but we will confirm this at the time of booking and we do not have any hidden charges.
Can a person who is pregnant, has a back problem, or is disabled, train to be a First Aider?
Anyone can learn First Aid, however, your selection of suitable people should be based on their ability to respond in an emergency to the benefit of your work force. The HSE advises that the selection of First Aiders for First Aid at Work purposes depends on a number of factors such as: Reliability, disposition and communication skills.
Aptitude and ability to adsorb new knowledge and learn new skills.
Ability to cope with stressful and physically demanding emergency procedures.
That their normal duties allow them to go immediately and rapidly to an emergency situation.
What facilities do we need to provide for you to run a first aid course at our premises?
All training venues should comply with all current health and safety standards. For first aid courses sufficient space should be available for the number of delegates attending, ideally with at least 6m x 6m recommended for a full course of twelve people. The room should be large enough to seat everyone comfortably in a semicircle formation with open floor space in the centre. The floor area should be clean, uncluttered and ideally carpeted, as it will be used for the practical demonstrations during the course. An electric socket and table should be provided for the instructors training equipment at the front of the room.
For 2 Day and 3 Day First Aid At Work Courses additional space will be required for individual assessments to take place on the final day of the course usually between 1pm and 5pm. Additional rooms are required for the practical assessments. For CIEH courses all participants should have a desk or table and no open floor space is required.
My First Aid At Work certificate has expired, can I still renew it with a 2 day refresher course?
You can renew your First Aid At Work qualification by attending a 2 day refresher course within one month of expiry of your original certificate. Ideally you should renew your certificate before it expires, when you attend a refresher course you will need to bring your original certificate with you as evidence of your qualification. If your certificate expired more than a month ago you will need to attend a full 4 day First Aid At Work course again.
If I need to cancel a course will there be any charges?

If you do need to cancel a course you should let us know as soon as possible, if you give us more than 2 weeks notice there will be no cancellation charge.
