The two day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid Course is designed to enable learners attain the knowledge and competencies needed to deal with emergency first aid situations which can arise when looking after children and babies. At the end of the course participants will be able to demonstrate the practical administration of safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations. This qualification fulfils Ofsted’s first aid requirements for early years teachers, nursery workers and childminders (as defined within the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage 2014 and within The Child Care Register guide). This highly regulated course is certificated by Qualsafe Awards, an OFQUAL approved awarding organisation, and fulfils all of the criteria for employers when selecting first aid training for their staff.
Who is this course for?
This course is designed for people who have a specific responsibility at work, or in voluntary and community activities, to provide First Aid to children and babies when dealing with an emergency situation such as primary schools, nursery staff and childminders. There are no formal entry requirements but in order to benefit from the course participants should possess reasonable communication skills.
Unit 1 – Paediatric Emergency First Aid

Incident and casualty assessment
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for children and babies
Management of a seizure
Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Wounds and bleeding
Use of first aid equipment
Unit 2 – Managing Paediatric Illness and Injury
Bites & Stings
Ear, Nose & Eye Conditions
Fractures, Dislocations, Sprains and Strains
Head and Spinal Injuries
Medical Conditions – Sickle Cell Syndrome, Diabetes, Asthma, Meningitis & Febrile Convulsions
Extremes of Heat & Cold
Burns & Scalds
Duration: 2 days
Certification: Successful participants will receive a Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid certificate, valid for a period of 3 years, after which the learner will need to retake the course in order to remain qualified.
Additional information: All course materials and first aid handbook for each participant are provided. This course is subject to continuous assessment of participants practical skills throughout the course by the tutor and a multiple choice final assessment. Delegates attending this course must bring a valid form of photographic I.D.
Course Price: £690.00 plus VAT for a group of up to 12 people. For a group of up to 24 candidates with 2 trainers we charge £1050.00 plus VAT. Courses can be taught over 4, half-day sessions for an additional charge
